A s a Team Leader you will be p roviding direct line management to a small group of officers who carry out the full range of pollution and statutory nuisance work.

The Environmental Protection Team consists of twenty officers based in three teams. Two of these teams deliver the core E nvironmental Protection functions and the third specialises in animal welfare and dog control. You will work closely with the other Team Leaders to develop and support the services across the se disciplines and will lead on several specialist areas.

**What you will be doing**

You will lead on the delivery of our local air quality management programme ; private water supply obligations ; contaminated land enquiries ; permit and licence appli cations and the full range of nuisance and public protection issues .

You will manage any enforcement action that is required ; giv e appropriate advice and support ; ensur e statutory returns are completed in a timely manner and update policies and procedures in line with new regulations and guidance.

Dorset Council is supportive in promoting learning and development with opportunities internally and externally to obtain CPD, further qualifications in specialist areas and using the modern apprentice ship schemes .

Hybrid working is encouraged and includes the use of satellite offices whilst on the district as well as attending our main offices based in Dorchester, Wimborne and Wareham . The use of virtual meetings is now part of the 'new norm al '.

**About you**

You will be able to build great working relationships with colleagues and partners, be innovative and embrace new ideas so that the service remains dynamic and ahead of the curve.

You should hold the basic requirements of a D egree/ MS c or Diploma in Environmental Health and have considerable experience within this regulatory field. Additionally, you will have experience in the line management or supervision of staff .

This position has a significant travel requirement. This means that there is a requirement for a vehicle (or transport deemed to be suitable by the Council) to be available on most working days to carry out normal duties. Employees in positions with a significant travel requirement are required to provide a replacement vehicle if their usual vehicle is not available over an extended period.
